R E S O U R C E S

We are committed to connecting people with resources. Gaps left by government have created an overwhelming need for localized community action and response. For generations, people have filled this need with community based actions and initiatives. Our aim as an organization is to uplift resources that already exist and make them more accessible.

Below is the resulting database of resources we have collected. Please submit any resources you are aware of on our Contact Us page!

(We are still working through coding issues, for a complete list of our database, click here)

National Domestic Workers Alliance: Coronavirus Care Fund

Global

"The Coronavirus Care Fund was established by the National Domestic Workers Alliance to provide emergency assistance for home care workers, nannies and house cleaners to support them in staying safe and staying home to slow the spread of the coronavirus and to care for themselves and their families. Domestic workers are on the frontlines of the outbreak, caring for those most vulnerable to the coronavirus like seniors and people with chronic illnesses. They are also caring for the children of essential workers like health care professionals. As a result, many domestic workers, especially home care workers, are unable to self-isolate or practice social distancing. ... 100% of funds raised will go directly to support domestic workers. Domestic workers who qualify, and whose applications are approved, can access $400 in emergency assistance that will be mailed to them as a Visa gift card that they can use just like a credit card to buy things in person or online, wherever credit cards are accepted. This emergency assistance is to be used for reasonable and necessary personal, family and living expenses incurred as a result of the coronavirus pandemic, including--but not limited to--preventive health equipment and medical care."
"Founded in 2007, NDWA works for respect, recognition, and inclusion in labor protections for domestic workers, the majority of whom are immigrants and women of color... Philadelphia Community Fridge

Philadelphia, PA, USA

Their mission statement:
We're a community-centered, volunteer-based organization dedicated to giving all Philadelphians access to fresh and healthy food, combatting food insecurity and inequality in our city through mutual aid. Studies show that nearly 1 in 5 Philadelphia families struggle with hunger, and food pantries' demand for fresh produce has increased 3x since 2019. We partner with local grocers and restaurants to stock this fridge with perfectly good produce, pantry staples, and prepared foods that would otherwise be thrown out. Being able to feed yourself and your family isn't a privilege, it's a basic human right.

Philadelphia Community Fridge has organized several community fridges across Philadelphia where folks can take what they need and leave what they can share.
If you are interested in helping out this cause, they are accepting donations and also are able to refund food donations - limited to under $50 (see their instagram for further details @phlcommunityfridge).

Racial Justice Organizing

Philadelphia, PA, USA

The Racial Justice Organizing Committee is a group of activists and advocates, working towards the abolition of white supremacy and racism in all of the ways it presents in our communities and schools. The goal of racial justice is not to simply reform our current society; the goal is to uproot white supremacy and plant the seeds for liberation and empowerment that will lead to a more just and equitable world. Our Ten Demands for Radical Education Transformation are foundational towards the vision of racial justice. The 10 Demands, as well as the larger fight for racial justice, will be achieved through purposeful action, building and strengthening relationships between all stakeholders, and continued self-reflection and education.

They have Philadelphia specific covid resources and their organizing material is globally relevant and applicable in considering racial justice organizing. They have several campaigns including Antiracism Training, Building Antiracist Schools, Black Educators Respond, Combatting Violence and Trauma, Groceries for Philly, and a resource guide for Educators Responding to Nationwide Uprisings.
