R E S O U R C E S

We are committed to connecting people with resources. Gaps left by government have created an overwhelming need for localized community action and response. For generations, people have filled this need with community based actions and initiatives. Our aim as an organization is to uplift resources that already exist and make them more accessible.

Below is the resulting database of resources we have collected. Please submit any resources you are aware of on our Contact Us page!

(We are still working through coding issues, for a complete list of our database, click here)

African Lii: African Law Database

South Africa

Legal database for countries in Africa. AfricanLII is a programme of the Democratic Governance and Rights Unit at the Department of Public Law, University of Cape Town. We help individuals, organizations, and governments build and maintain sustainable free access to law portals, and reach the people of Africa and beyond. We convene a network of 16 African LIIs - a collaborative group of organizations and individuals in Africa, dedicated to free access to law on our continent. Free Access to Law, or LII, websites are indispensable sources of legal information for the justice sector and citizens of the countries LIIs serve. Often, there is no commercial alternative. Read more in the Report of LII Usage in South Africa and Zimbabwe. We also provide a Pan-African legal search engine and host regional legal materials for free access. Our partners and AfricanLII subscribe to the principles of the Montreal Declaration on Free Access to Law. Get in touch with us if you are interested in participating in AfricanLII or building a project based on African legal information.

Asylum Seekers Advocacy Project

United States

"The Asylum Seeker Advocacy Project (ASAP) compiled this legal referral spreadsheet in response to heightened demand for information about immigration attorneys in different parts of the country."
"This spreadsheet lists hundreds of private immigration attorneys in many states and information on pro se help desks and other limited scope representation efforts in various cities. ASAP compiled this list of referrals for our private online community that connects thousands of formerly detained asylum-seeking mothers across the country. We gathered the information by contacting reputable immigration nonprofits and asking for their lists of trusted local attorneys, but we haven’t vetted each of the referrals ourselves and know that the list is a work in progress. The spreadsheet is meant to be a complement to other resources. Please email info@asylumadvocacy.org with any additions or corrections."

It also allows eligible survivors to file for T visa derivatives for their children and spouses, leading to successful family reunifications. As part of our services, we assist uninsured workers access basic health services through collaborative health fairs and referrals. We also help vulnerable workers retrieve unpaid wages and fight labor abuses and cases of fraud. If you are a Filipino domestic worker or trafficked worker with questions or concerns, please contact Riya Ortiz, Damayan Case Manager, at riya@damayanmigrants.org or at (212) 564-6057.
